Mary G. (Giblin) Heroux, age 85, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 5, 2017, surrounded by family. She was the wife of Paul R. Heroux. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Joseph and Yvonne (Lavoie) Giblin, Mary resided in Somerset and West Island, Fairhaven.

A graduate of Sacred Heart Academy, she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in education from Lesley College. Mary taught in Somerset as a reading specialist for many years, retiring in 1997. She believed in making a difference in...

Mary G. (Giblin) Heroux, age 85, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 5, 2017, surrounded by family. She was the wife of Paul R. Heroux. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Joseph and Yvonne (Lavoie) Giblin, Mary resided in Somerset and West Island, Fairhaven.

A graduate of Sacred Heart Academy, she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in education from Lesley College. Mary taught in Somerset as a reading specialist for many years, retiring in 1997. She believed in making a difference in the lives of her students. While living in Somerset she was a communicant of St. Thomas More Church and was the first President of their Women's Guild. While living on West Island she was a member of the Red Hat Society, W.I.I.A and was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in New Bedford.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and her grandchildren, who have fond memories of playing card games, watching the Red Sox and enjoying her quahog chowder on West Island.

In addition to her husband Paul, she is survived by six children, Donna England (husband Raymond) of Laconia, NH, Jeffrey Heroux (wife MaryAnn) of Fall River, Stephen Heroux (wife Patricia Guay) of Buxton, ME, Susan Carrier (husband Mark) of Lewiston, ME, Christopher Heroux (wife Debra) of Somerset, Nancy Heroux of Oakland, CA; one sister, Anne McNally (husband Gene) of Celebration, FL, and brother in law Chick Webb of Fall River. She was the beloved Meme and Grammy to Michael England, Katie Antalek (husband Matthew), Nicole McGonigle (husband Ryan), April Heroux, Riley Heroux, Christopher and Evan Carrier, Marissa and Mitchel Heroux; one great-grandson, James Antalek and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Eileen Conlon and Carolyn Webb.

To celebrate and honor Mary's joy of life, please wear something colorful or a touch of blue.

Her Funeral will be held on Friday, May 19, 2017 at 9:00AM from the Waring-Sullivan Home at Rose E. Sullivan, 866 County St., Somerset, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM in St. Thomas More Church, 386 Luther Ave., Somerset. Visiting hours will be Thursday May 18th from 4:00 to 7:00PM. Contributions in her honor may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101. Burial in Notre Dame Cemetery, Fall River.
